Medical Billing and Coding Courses - On Campus and Online Diploma Programs


The Medical Billing and Coding courses in UMA's diploma program provide an introduction to key concepts and applications required for coding healthcare services and processing healthcare claims. Throughout UMA's program, you  have the opportunity to learn essential medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and surgical procedures.

UMA’s courses are designed to give you critical knowledge regarding the lifecycle of an insurance claim, reimbursement systems, facility billing, keyboarding, word processing, medical practice management systems and life skills necessary for success.


The Medical Billing and Coding diploma program consists of 720 clock hours for a total of 39 semester credits. Courses are available online and on UMA’s campus in Tampa.

With a standard course schedule, you can earn your diploma in as few as 10 months. The program assist you in preparing to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) examination. In addition,  the credits you earn in the diploma program can be applied toward the Associate of Science in Medical Billing and Coding degree from UMA.
