Medical Billing and Coding courses offered through UMA are designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for coding healthcare services and processing healthcare claims. Throughout the associate degree program, you have the opportunity to learn medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes and surgical procedures.

UMA’s Medical Billing and Coding training covers critical topics such as the lifecycle of an insurance claim, healthcare settings, healthcare payers, procedure and diagnosis coding from medical records, reimbursement systems and facility billing. The curriculum is designed to enhance skills for keyboarding, word processing, medical practice management systems and life skills for success.

The Associate of Science in Medical Billing and Coding degree program consists of 1,080 clock hours for a total of 63 semester credits.
