Health Science - UMA Graduates Only


Build on your existing UMA diploma with additional training in business, communications and healthcare and earn your Associate of Science in Health Science. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, the salary of those who have an Associate Degree is $6,500 more than those who do not.
Every eligible credit you've earned at UMA will count toward your degree; so, you've already done much of the work, and you may be able to complete the program in just a few months! You can complete the courses you need on campus or online — whichever is easier for you.
Health Science – Associate of Science Degree
The health science academic degree program offers eight areas of concentration (based on your previous UMA diploma program): Basic X-Ray Technician, Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician. The core curriculum of one of the eight diploma concentrations, combined with general education and complementary elective components, can enhance your knowledge base and expand employment opportunities and future advancement.
Health Science Associate graduates will be qualified for positions in health practitioners' offices, hospitals, home healthcare services, outpatient care services, nursing care facilities, health insurance companies, state and government healthcare programs and a variety of other allied health areas.
Graduates of the Health Science A.S. program will have:
- An associate degree with one of the eight areas as an area of concentration.
- Taken general education courses in English, math, biology and social sciences.
- Taken elective courses in topics including accounting, computers, psychology, patient relations and more.
- Greater earning potential, immediately or over time.
