Happy New Year from your Alumni Association team! As we all wrap up the year and prepare for 2017, the faculty and staff at Ultimate Medical Academy reflect on the past and the many things and people for which we are thankful.
We are thankful for you—the foundation of our institution. We are thankful for your commitment to yourselves and to UMA. We are thankful to have the opportunity to serve and support you. Your success not only makes the healthcare field a better place, but it also shows current and future students how much they can achieve.
As we reflect on new initiatives like our alumni networking platform, ConnectUMA, and our alumni feature series, True Blue Alum, we encourage you to share feedback about the Alumni Association and what you would like to see in the upcoming year.
We wish you all a joyful last few days of 2016 and look forward to continuing to support you in the new year!

True Blue Alum: Angela Ribble
UMA alumni who are finding success and making an impact
This quarter's True Blue Alum has persevered through significant hardships to achieve success and create a better life for herself and her family.
Angela Ribble, Class of 2016, began her journey at UMA in 2013 when she decided to pursue career training and find a school that made her proud to be a student.
But Angela’s path to graduation took an unexpected path shortly after she enrolled. Angela began experiencing shortness of breath after giving birth to her third child, and a series of doctor's appointments confirmed that she suffered from a potentially fatal genetic blood disorder. Read More

Staff Corner: Alumni Services
Richard Sanders brings his unique past to the graduates he works with at Ultimate Medical Academy. Born in Kusan, South Korea, his family moved to the United States when he was three. After staying in the states for two years, they moved to Germany, where Richard lived for ten more years before finally calling Florida home. Living in so many places has given Richard a unique understanding of people from different backgrounds and walks of life.
Working as an Alumni Career Specialist is one of his biggest passions. “I enjoy helping people reach their goals and dreams," he says.
Richard recalls one graduate who had lost both her son and fiancé in a matter of weeks. The graduate could no longer continue her job search but Richard periodically checked in to offer words of encouragement. Once she was ready to begin her job search again, he was able to assist her in finding a position with her primary care physician. She praised him for being her biggest fan and for never pushing her beyond her limits. Stories like this remind Richard of why he enjoys working as an advisor at UMA.
Reading, writing, drawing and fishing are some of Richard’s favorite activities outside of work. When you talk with him, you may find out that he's an Air Force veteran, and that his favorite movie is “Saving Private Ryan” because his grandfather fought on D-Day.
Richard often reminds grads, “Don’t let one stumbling block be the wall that stops you from succeeding in life.” He also encourages alumni to be themselves and to never settle for anything less than their goals.
