    You can find salary ranges by visiting the Bureau of Labor Statistics website. A medical billing and coding salary depends on the answers to several questions including where you live and work, your experience, whether you are certified or not, and other related factors.
  • Is there a difference between medical billing and coding schools?

    Absolutely.   • What is medical billing and coding?

    When healthcare providers record the details about the services they provide for a patient, they use a universal coding system called medical coding. The insurance companies require that the services they pay for be translated into this medical coding system. Medical billing is the process of sending a bill for payment to an insurance company or other payer. Medical coding is the process of translating medical products and services into the universal coding system.
  • Do you have to be certified to do medical billing and coding?

    No. You do not need certification to work as a medical biller and coder. However, getting your Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential could help you stand out in the field as an applicant. UMA can help you prepare to take the CPC exam after you graduate.
  • Does UMA offer a nursing program?

    UMA does not currently offer a Nursing program, but we do have a Nursing Assistant program at our Clearwater campus, along with other allied healthcare programs through our online campus.
  • Does UMA offer Basic X-Ray Technician training?

    UMA does not currently offer any training for basic x-ray technician. You might want to consider programs like Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions at our Clearwater Campus, or online training for Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical Office and Billing Specialist. We also have other programs available depending on your healthcare education interests.
  • Can I share my achievement on social media?

    Yes! Take a photo of yourself with your certificate and share it on social media using the hashtag #UltimateMedicalAcademy.

  • Can I request to have a past certificate sent to me?

    Unfortunately, only current certificates will be mailed out.
