Gulf Coast Health Information Management Association General Meeting to be Held at Ultimate Medical Academy

May 16, 2017, Tampa, Fla. – For the second year in a row, the Gulf Coast Health Information Management Association (GCHIMA) will hold a general meeting at Ultimate Medical Academy, 3101 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Tampa.

“Hosting this GCHIMA general meeting is a wonderful opportunity to continue facilitating dialogue around coding and social media in the healthcare and higher education atmosphere,” said Ultimate Medical Academy’s Associate Dean of Online Programs Carrie Morris. “The association continuously inspires innovative industry conversation, and our involvement in this regional organization let’s us partner with other leaders in the space to ensure our curriculum remains relevant and meaningful to our students and the employers our students are placed at after graduating.”

Featuring presenters on topics ranging from social media and security to data and coding compliance, the meeting from 12 – 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 will provide an opportunity for attendees to network and learn about professional advances and education in healthcare. Presenters will include Lynne Hessling, program director of Ultimate Medical Academy’s Health Information Technology program and Lisa Boyce, CEO & founder of FairCode Associates.

“Our Gulf Coast Chapter is pleased to have Ultimate Medical Academy host and participate in this general meeting,” said Denise Fonzo, president of GCHIMA. “We’re thrilled to offer three Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) for educators and practitioners who attend the scheduled presentations on Coding and Social Media in the healthcare world.”

A regional association of the Florida Health Information Management Association, nonprofit GCHIMA has more than 250 health information management professional members. They are employed in hospitals and other healthcare settings throughout Florida’s Gulf Coast counties.
