Ultimate Medical Academy to Host Healthcare Career Fair at its Clearwater Campus on January 24
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 23 2019 — To help fill the healthcare skills gap in the Tampa Bay area, Ultimate Medical Academy is hosting a healthcare career fair for UMA students, alumni, and the public on Thursday, Jan. 24 at its campus in Clearwater, Florida.

“The healthcare industry is the largest employer in Pinellas County, which currently has 804 annual openings for registered nurses, 508 openings for nursing assistants, and 209 openings for licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses,” Campus Director Dr. Rebecca Sarlo noted. “We encourage anyone in the Tampa Bay area who is interested in pursuing a healthcare career to visit our Clearwater Campus to learn more about local healthcare opportunities and UMA’s programs. Our hands-on curriculum is designed to help students acquire the clinical and soft skills required for a fulfilling career in healthcare.”
People of all ages are invited to participate in the fair from 12 – 3 p.m. at the campus at 1255 Cleveland St. to meet with healthcare employers including local hospitals, doctors and dentist’s offices, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare agencies. They are hiring for clinical and administrative healthcare positions including nurses, nursing assistants, medical assistants, patient care technicians, dental assistants, medical technicians, medical billers and coders, and laboratory technicians.
In addition to featuring the following healthcare employers – BayCare and Bayfront hospitals, Largo Medical Center, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, the Palms of Largo, OneBlood, Greenberg Dental & Orthodontics, Heartland Dental, Klement Family Dental, and more – the career fair will offer workshops on resume development, interview preparation, and other career readiness topics to help UMA students and the public launch meaningful healthcare careers. Other UMA healthcare career fair participants include the Graydi Family Center, Early Learning Coalition, and Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.
Since 1994, UMA’s Clearwater Campus has offered convenient daytime and evening diploma and associate degree programs, hands-on training in classrooms and labs, personalized attention, and career readiness services. Current campus programs include Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician, which can be completed in 8 weeks to 14 months.
The campus provides the foundation for the nonprofit accredited national school that employs more than 2,000 faculty and staff in the Tampa Bay area. Annually, UMA supports more than 150 students at Clearwater and almost 15,000 online students across the nation.
