Transferring Credits

Ready to Help

If you’ve earned credits at another school, those credits may be eligible for transfer toward your program at UMA. We would be happy to review your academic transcripts, explain which credits may qualify for transfer, and discuss how that may result in graduating sooner or reduce your tuition obligations.

To get started, just contact the Registrar’s Office at UMA by calling 877-241-8786 ext. 1160 or email transfercredit@ultimatemedical.edu.

Transcript requests from other schools must be made by you. You are also responsible for any transcript fees charged by other schools associated with your request. Upon review and approval, UMA grants appropriate credit and notifies students accordingly within 30 days of the receipt of official transcripts.

Get started with two simple steps:

  • Submit a copy of your unofficial transcript to transfercredit@ultimatemedical.edu.
  • Request a copy of your official (sealed) transcripts from your prior school and have them sent to:
    UMA Registrar
    9309 N. Florida Avenue
    Suite 100
    Tampa, FL 33612

Transfer Credit Guidelines

Sources

UMA will consider previous education for transfer credit from these sources:

  1. Advanced Placement Courses approved by the College Board
  2. DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs)
  3. CLEP credits that meet minimum ETS or ACE scores
  4. Military training approved by ACE
  5. Postsecondary institutions that are accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education or CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation)
  6. Organizations that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) and/or American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)

Additional Notes

  1. For foreign transfer credit guidelines and official transcript policy for students using VA benefits, please see the UMA Catalog.
  2. Only credits with a grade of “C” or higher are eligible to transfer.
  3. External transfer credits do not affect a student’s grade point average but do affect a student’s pace of progress and the maximum time frame*.
  4. Students must complete a minimum of 30% of the total credits in the program for which they are enrolled at UMA.
  5. UMA does not grant transfer credit for work, life experience, or professional certifications.

*Federal regulations require students to complete their educational program within 150% semester credits of their published UMA program’s total credits. For example, if a program is 60 semester credits, students must complete their program in no greater than 90 attempted semester credits. (e.g., 60 credits multiplied by 150%). Maximum Time Frame evaluations occur at the end of each grading period.

Deadlines for Submissions of Transfer Credit Requests

Enrolled UMA students may submit an unofficial transcript, course description and/or the school’s catalog from your previous school/school’s URL for an electronic catalog for initial evaluation. An official transcript must be received by UMA directly from your previous school before the start date of the course for which transfer credit is sought. Even though your official transcript may arrive, this does not guarantee your credits will be approved. Upon review, appropriate credits will be applied and you will be notified within 30 days of the receipt of official transcripts. Students who have graduated or are graduating from a UMA diploma program may be able to transfer their UMA diploma courses in their entirety to a UMA associate degree program in the same field of study.

External Transfer Credit Expiration Dates
