Activity Overview

In cardiovascular emergencies, taking the right action quickly can be the difference between life and death. It’s important to approach those situations confidently. As a trusted Red Cross Training Provider, UMA offers this course to train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, administer chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

Ultimate Medical Academy is proud to collaborate with the American Red Cross as a licensed training provider in the Tampa Bay Area. Through this joint effort, UMA provides American Red Cross training certifications for healthcare workers and emergency responders.

For over 30 years, UMA has offered healthcare education in the Tampa Bay area. Students enrolled in full time programs receive extensive student services with hands-on career training to prepare for entry-level roles in the field. As a trusted provider, our program includes training materials as designed and developed by the Red Cross over the past 30 years.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the program, attendees should be able to:

  • Dramatize Rapid Assessment and Visual Survey
  • Demonstrate CPR/AED for adults, children and infants
  • Identify obstructed airways and dramatize how to address them
  • Identify opioid overdoses and dramatize how to address them
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, communication and teamwork
  • Describe the Emergency Medical Services System
  • Explain legal considerations and precautions

Schedule: 3rd Wednesday of every month | 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Target Audience

This program is designed for healthcare professionals, physicians, and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Accreditation Statement

UMA is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This training is not included within the institution’s grant of accreditation from ABHES (abhes.org).

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Ultimate Medical Academy designates this activity for a maximum of 0.45 Continuing Education Units.

Instructions to Receive Credit

For information on applicability and acceptance of continuing education credit for this activity, please consult your professional licensing board.

To earn credit, participants must successfully complete the activity online during the valid credit period that is noted in the registration process. They must then participate in a live skills check with a certified instructor to demonstrate skills on the date selected upon registration.


Cancellation and Refund Policy

Trainings may be subject to change or cancellation.

Learner/Employer-Initiated Cancellation, Rescheduling and Substitution

Learners and employers may choose to cancel or change the date of their training to an alternate training date based on availability without penalty by contacting umacme@ultimatemedical.edu.

For learner cancellations that are not rescheduled, refunds will be issued as follows:

  • 4 or more days before course starts – 75% refund
  • 3 days or fewer before course starts – 50% refund

The full cost of the course will be charged for learners who arrive late, otherwise miss part of a course, or who neither attend the course nor cancel.

Learners who are registered by and have their training paid by an employer should coordinate cancellation or rescheduling through the employer to ensure accurate and timely processing.

UMA-Initiated Cancellation, Rescheduling and Substitution

  1. From time to time, UMA may need to cancel or reschedule a course.
  2. If UMA cancels a course, it will inform the learner and payor as soon as possible, and will give the option of attending the next available course.
  3. UMA will issue a full refund if an alternate course date is not available or acceptable to the learner or payor.
  4. Learners are responsible for managing their own certifications; UMA is not responsible for certifications which may expire after a cancelled course but before a rescheduled course (if any) is available.
