American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Receives Support from Ultimate Medical Academy

May 23, 2017, Tampa, Fla. – Earlier today, Ultimate Medical Academy leaders visited the local office of the American Cancer Society in Tampa to proudly present a $10,000 check to support the local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer national event, which will take place Saturday, October 28 at Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa.

“We love supporting and participating in events like this, where we can be active in the community and contribute to a meaningful cause,” said Dan Soschin, the leader overseeing philanthropic initiatives at Ultimate Medical Academy. “As a healthcare-focused school, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a cause near and dear to the hearts of our staff, students, faculty and alumni. We’re honored to sponsor the annual event and to help raise funds for cancer research, patient support, prevention and early detection.”

This is the fourth consecutive year Ultimate Medical Academy has sponsored this premier event in Hillsborough County. Each year, the nonprofit school encourages all staff members to donate to this worthy cause through its various initiatives during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In those four years of participation, Ultimate Medical Academy has raised and donated more than $25,000 to this cause.

In addition to Ultimate Medical Academy’s support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Tampa, the institution’s Clearwater campus supports Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Pinellas County.

“Because of the determination of Making Strides supporters like Ultimate Medical Academy, the American Cancer Society is there for people in every community affected by breast cancer,” said Mallory McLean, senior community manager of Making Stride Against Breast Cancer. “Whether someone is fighting a diagnosis now, facing one in the future, or avoiding a diagnosis altogether because of risk reduction, the education, research and support is key to what we do daily for those affected by this disease.”

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer celebrates survivors and raises awareness and funds to help save lives. With money raised, Making Strides funds research, provides information and support, and helps reduce the risk of breast cancer and early detection when it’s most treatable.
