Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce Hosts Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Ultimate Medical Academy 25th Anniversary

Clearwater ribbon cutting

Clearwater, Fla., April 26, 2019 – The Central Pinellas Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting at the Ultimate Medical Academy Clearwater Campus, 1255 Cleveland St., last night to celebrate the nonprofit healthcare educational institution’s 25th anniversary since being founded in Clearwater.

“It was a privilege for the Central Pinellas Chamber to recognize UMA on this important occasion and to celebrate the school’s positive impact on our healthcare system for more than a quarter century,” Chamber President Tom Morrissette said.

Since 1994, UMA’s Clearwater Campus has offered convenient daytime and evening diploma and, more recently, associate degree programs that provide hands-on clinical training for entry-level healthcare careers. Current campus programs include Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician, which can be completed in 8 weeks to 22 months.

The campus provides the foundation for the nonprofit accredited national school that employs more than 2,000 faculty and staff in the Tampa Bay area. Annually, UMA supports more than 150 students at Clearwater and more than 14,000 online students across the nation.

“At every layer of our healthcare school, we remind ourselves that our end goal is always to improve the lives of the students we serve, and in so doing make our communities stronger and healthier,” UMA Clearwater Campus Director Dr. Rebecca Sarlo said. “We love to call Pinellas County home and feel our growth on a national level makes our Clearwater Campus even stronger in the services that we offer.

“Healthcare is not only the largest employer in Pinellas County, it is the largest employer in the nation,” Sarlo noted. “We are proud to partner with the chamber to raise our profile in the community as well as healthcare leaders through various means, such as advisory boards, to provide students with the most updated and relevant training. Our Clearwater programs also give our students externship and employment connections that have ladders for growth.”
