National Education Leader David Donahue Joins Ultimate Medical Academy

David Donahue joins UMA

TAMPA, Fla., November 29, 2018— National education leader David Donahue joined Ultimate Medical Academy this week as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff. He will report to UMA President Derek Apanovitch and work closely with UMA Executive Chair of the Board of Directors and former Governor of Massachusetts Jane Swift to build local and national relationships and partnerships that advance the mission of UMA to equip and empower students to excel in healthcare careers.

“We are thrilled to have David join the UMA leadership team,” Apanovitch said. “He has a wealth of experience in a wide range of educational and community settings, and we look forward to seeing his impact here at UMA on behalf of our students.”

Donahue comes to UMA from Middlebury College in Vermont, where he spent more than 20 years in a variety of roles, including most recently as the college’s Chief of Staff and Director of Community Relations. In Vermont, he served on a variety of boards at educational institutions and as Chair of the Middlebury Chamber of Commerce.

“Having worked with David at Middlebury I know UMA will benefit from his thoughtful and passionate work in education,” Swift said. “We are grateful that he will be joining the leadership team at UMA and know he will make a huge difference in moving our institution forward to serve our students and to help meet the growing need for healthcare workers across the nation.

Donahue said, “UMA has a well-deserved reputation for helping non-traditional students gain the education and experience they need to enter the healthcare field and dramatically improve their lives. That is important and necessary work, especially given the pressing demand for skilled healthcare workers. I’m honored to join the nonprofit higher education institution.”

In addition to serving as Chief of Staff at Middlebury, Donahue has also been Associate Dean of Library and Information Services, an Advisor for Institutional Effectiveness, and Assistant Dean of Students. Previously, he served as an Analyst/Consultant at the professional services firm Accenture. He holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont.
