Ultimate Medical Academy Continuing Medical Education Division to Host Live TeamSTEPPS for Healthcare Professionals at UMA Clearwater Campus

CLEARWATER, Fla., April 19, 2018— Ultimate Medical Academy’s Continuing Medical Education (UMA CME) division will host a live CME activity for healthcare professionals on TeamSTEPPS from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20 at UMA’s Clearwater Campus, 1255 Cleveland Street.

TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork system designed for physicians and healthcare professionals that provides an evidence-based model to enhance communication and teamwork skills among healthcare professionals and to improve patient safety. The UMA CME activity will be led by Mark Flores, TeamSTEPPS trainer, who will facilitate a discussion and guide participants through practical TeamSTEPPS application in the medical office, hospital, or other healthcare setting.

Flores is the TeamSTEPPS Program Manager at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, Illinois. A native of Dallas, Texas, Flores retired from the Naval Service after 25 years of service. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt & Lean Service Professional. Awards include, The Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Southwest Asian Campaign Service Medal, Chicago Federal Executive Board Program Specialist of the Year Award, and Naval Service Training Command Employee of the Year.

Breakfast will be provided at this no-cost activity where healthcare professionals will learn the basics of how the TeamSTEPPS system can be implemented on their teams. Healthcare professionals can register by contacting 727-298-8685 or umacme@ultimatemedical.edu.
