Ultimate Medical Academy Donates More Than 1,500 Pounds of Food and Supplies to Hurricane Relief Efforts

TAMPA, Fla., October 20, 2017– Victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria are still in need of resources while they continue to recover and rebuild. In an effort to aid those left devastated by the hurricanes in Florida and Puerto Rico, faculty and staff at Tampa-based Ultimate Medical Academy , a nonprofit healthcare education institution, recently stepped in during a school-wide food and supplies drive.

Through this effort, Ultimate Medical Academy gathered and filled donation bins with more than 1,500 pounds of nonperishable food items, including 700 diapers and 25 pounds of toiletries. The items were evenly distributed between local Tampa Bay nonprofit organizations Metropolitan Ministries and Course of Action PR who in turn will distribute them to the hurricane victims.

“Participation was incredible for our Hurricane Relief drive,” said Dan Soschin, Ultimate Medical Academy leader of philanthropic initiatives. “Our employees have big hearts and care deeply for our those impacted in Florida and Puerto Rico. People’s lives have been forever changed by these catastrophic events and we feel and want to show we care for all those affected.”

Metropolitan Ministries offers needy families services from food and short-term housing, to clothing and school programs.

Course of Action PR was championed to support those affected by Hurricane Maria on the island of Puerto Rico. It is under the umbrella of the Course of Action Foundation, which was founded by retired Air Force Colonel Evelio Otero.

After Hurricane Harvey, Ultimate Medical Academy donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross and $5,000 to KIPP Houston Public Schools to support hurricane recovery and relief efforts in Houston and in the Gulf Coast states of Texas and Louisiana.

Ultimate Medical Academy has more than 40,000 alumni and offers content-rich, interactive online courses to almost 14,000 students nationwide. The school’s involvement with relief efforts are one of the many service projects and outreach initiatives Ultimate Medical Academy participates in each year.
