Ultimate Medical Academy Employees Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity West Hillsborough ReStore

February 28, 2017, Tampa, Fla. – With a commitment to helping others and supporting local communities, employees from Ultimate Medical Academy, the Tampa-based nonprofit healthcare educational institution, recently volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County’s West Hillsborough ReStore. UMA faculty and staff on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 helped clean and prepare merchandise to be sold at the store.

“We are so grateful for all the amazing individuals, businesses and organizations who donate their time and household goods to help make our ReStores successful,” Tina Swain, Chief Executive Officer for Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County, said. “ReStores depend on enthusiastic volunteers from partners like UMA, who enjoy interacting with customers and helping behind the scenes.”

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and home accessories to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The proceeds are used to help fund Habitat’s mission, which is to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in local communities and around the world.

“I’m always impressed by how many volunteers from our team donate their time at our community outreach events,” said Dan Soschin, the UMA executive overseeing the school’s philanthropic initiatives. “It never ceases to amaze me how passionate UMA members are about helping their community and giving back. As Habitat works to build stability and self-reliance throughout our communities, the UMA team works to do the same with our students, so this event was particularly meaningful for us. ”

Kelsey Tressler, a UMA volunteer, said, “It was great to volunteer at the Habitat ReStore that makes such a difference for families in the local and broader community. It’s gratifying to know our efforts can help families find a place to call home.”

UMA’s involvement with Habitat for Humanity is one of the many service projects and outreach initiatives the school participates in each year. For more details about UMA’s involvement in the community, visit UltimateMedical.edu/about/community-outreach.
