Ultimate Medical Academy receives Seven Seals Award from DoD

Tampa, Florida – James Dicks, Chairman of the Florida Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense, announced that Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) in Tampa, Florida received the Department of Defense Seven Seals Award for their exceptional support of the members of the Guard and Reserve who are students at the academy.

The award was requested by Maryland National Guard (and recent UMA graduate) Sergeant Daniel Cermak for their constant support of his guard responsibilities while attending the academy. Sergeant Cermak stated that “Each instructor has been understanding of and accommodating to my military obligations. On several occasions I was allowed to submit late assignments when a conflict occurred. As a result I will graduate with a 3.92 GPA. Much of my success can be attributed to the support of my school” The award was presented on behalf of the DOD by LTC Roger Trout (USAR-Ret) Florida ESGR Training Director to Tim Swett – Sr. Vice President, Operations, George Colon – Director of Military Affairs and Government Education and Berkley Robinson a UMA student and army veteran (Pictured Left to Right).

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is an office of the Department of Defense established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflict through mediation. ESGR volunteers provide free education, consultation, and if necessary mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees. As the 32 thousand members of the National Guard and Reserve in Florida and Nationally 1.3 million members continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR will continue to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors.
