Heather Wende, Ph.D.

As Associate Vice President for Programs and Academic Affairs at Ultimate Medical Academy’s Online Campus, Dr. Heather Wende brings together academic leadership and a deeply held belief in education’s potential to change lives. Her approach is grounded in creating strong academic programs and giving students the support they need to recognize and realize their potential.

Heather began her career in counseling, residence life, and student affairs, working with students navigating personal and academic challenges. Over more than two decades in academic leadership, she has helped build two colleges from the ground up and held roles spanning student affairs, assessment, and academic affairs. Her experience includes leading accreditation efforts, strengthening curriculum and instructional quality, and using data to drive continuous improvement.

Before joining UMA, Heather spent 15 years at USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy, where her roles included Chief Student Affairs Officer, Chief Assessment Officer, and Interim Academic Affairs Dean. Her contributions to higher education have earned recognition from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy for excellence in student affairs leadership and sustained contributions to administrative practice.

Heather earned her Ph.D. from Barry University, with academic work focused on intrinsic motivation and equity. Throughout her career, she has paired strong academic systems with a commitment to helping students feel seen, supported, and capable of building the futures they envision for themselves and their families.
